Summary: From rabbitholes to roast rabbits. Cade takes Nayeon out for an unusual dinner.

Mid-week. Hump day, so termed the collared masses, as though they needed certification for making it past the first two days of the week. It was all about the weekends, where one could loose the ties and shoes and drink themselves into drunken stupors. Perhaps stay in bed all day and live off takeout delivered right to their doorstep. (And wouldn't it be great if one did not have to get out of bed to answer the door?) It had been over a decade masquerading as an unremarkable human being, and Cade still couldn't decide which end of the spectrum he belonged to.

Clubs? He loathed them, finding the neon modernities and blaring bass beats much too much for his tastes. On the occasion that he did find himself in such establishments, Cade often used his illusions upon himself to block out the terrible music. No, that was not music. It was noise, an open and misguided eroticism he could never understand. The 21st century and its affinity for artificial sounds created through machines baffled him.

On the other hand, as much as Cade enjoyed being able to sleep while the sun was up once in a while, he couldn't quite subscribe to the extremity of sloth. Daytime naps were great, but so was catching up on his reading, on his inexhaustible hunts for ancient tomes the lack of nodes now barred him from journeying towards. And when the sun went down, it was often time to step out of his apartment and play, whether or not he had company.

Tonight would fortunately be one spent with a companion. In all honesty, Cade had no idea who he was meeting with - all he had gleaned from their short texted conversations was her name, along with the little profile she had put up on the social media website. He made a mental note to ask her once more about her interestingly-named cafe. How far along was she in Wonderland, he wondered, as he parked his car. He had offered, as gentlemanly as he was wont to be, to pick her up from her location, and sent off a quick text to alert her of his arrival, along with his carplate number. It had been a mutual idea, for her to sample rabbit meat, and as he sat back waiting, idly wondered if she would find him as boring as he liked to pretend to be. It was all an image, and Cade Lu had an arsenal of them.

He wondered what image Im Nayeon would put out in return.
